Our playground was buzzing with joy at recess today! The children threw themselves into a world of play, blowing and popping bubbles, covering the pavement in colourful chalk creations, and diving into imaginative role play with the diggers and trucks.

There was climbing, balancing, singing, dancing, and plenty of fine‑motor fun to keep little hands busy. It was a beautiful reminder of how much learning happens through play- confidence, creativity, friendships, and big smiles all around.

Such a happy way to spend a sunny recess! 🌈✨

Sydney Catholic Schools’ new strategy Magis 2033 sets our direction and our bold commitment to the wonder, wisdom and witness of each and every child.

Developed through conversations with students, families, staff and parish communities, and grounded in our Catholic faith, our plan provides a clear and confident path for the years ahead.

It focuses on educating the whole child by supporting strong learning, personal growth, accessibility, wellbeing, faith and a sense of service.

Magis 2033 is about preparing young people not only to achieve academically, but to grow in character, compassion and confidence, making sure they finish their schooling ready to contribute positively to their communities and the wider world. More here: https://ow.ly/L1Wx50YhW63

Celebrating the Birthday of Eileen O’Connor

Today our EOCC community gathered in gratitude and joy as we celebrated the birthday of Eileen O’Connor, the courageous and compassionate woman whose legacy continues to shape our mission and our hearts.

We began the morning with a special school liturgy, reflecting on Eileen’s extraordinary life, a life marked by deep faith, unwavering hope, and a fierce commitment to serving the poor, the sick, and the forgotten. Despite her own physical suffering, Eileen dedicated herself to uplifting others, co‑founding the Society of Our Lady’s Nurses for the Poor, whose mission of love and service still inspires us today.

We were especially blessed to be joined by Sister Kerry, Monica, and Carlos, who work closely with our college and help us stay connected to the Sisters of the Poor. Their presence reminded us that Eileen’s spirit is alive in every act of kindness, every moment of compassion, and every step we take toward building a more loving community.

After our liturgy, we continued the celebration with a special morning tea, a simple but meaningful way to honour Eileen’s belief that community, connection, and care are at the heart of our faith. We presented a special canvas artworks work which will be displayed at the Eileen O'Connor Museum in Coogee. If you have some time, go visit and see this blessed and sacred place.

“Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” — Matthew 25:40

May we continue to walk in Eileen’s footsteps, serving with courage, compassion, and joy.

✝️ Beginning Our Lenten Journey Together

Today our EOCC community entered the sacred season of Lent, beginning with Ash Wednesday a time of reflection, renewal, and returning our hearts to God.

We started the morning gathered in a beautiful school liturgy, grounding ourselves in prayer and the meaning of this season. Throughout the day, Father Gerard visited each class, gently placing ashes on the foreheads of our students and staff, reminding us of God’s invitation to grow, to change, and to walk more closely with Him.

Lent calls us to pause, to look inward, and to make space for compassion, hope, and transformation in our daily lives.

“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.” — Psalm 51:10

May these forty days draw us deeper into faith, kindness and love.
